About Keith Brooks
Thank you for visiting KeithBrooksMusic! Keith Brooks, an international award-winning singer-songwriter from Holly Ridge, North Carolina, has been captivating audiences for 64 years with live performances and 59 years of guitar playing. 2023 and 2024 have been record years for gigs, fueled by his deep-seated musical roots from the mountains.
Keith's musical journey began in public at the young age of 4 or 5 with The Brooks Family, initially performing shyly facing away from the audience. The addition of his younger brother formed a quartet that played shows almost every weekend, hosted a local Saturday radio show, and recorded an album leading to major gospel shows in VA, TN, and NC.
As Keith and his brother Jeff grew older, their musical tastes evolved towards rock and roll, supported by their mother who encouraged their passion. They formed a band, acquiring enough equipment to perform at school dances, festivals, and private events until 1978.
Following his parents' divorce, Keith transitioned to a top 40 dance band before embracing rock and roll in 1980 with the heavy metal band Rockacy. A job transfer for his wife to Memphis, TN, led the band to relocate and rehearse rigorously, developing a large following. They toured Germany and Azores Island for the US DOD, but the lifestyle led to the band's disbandment, unfortunately ending a Warner Brothers record deal opportunity.
Returning to NC, Keith continued performing live and developed a desire to write original music, leading him to acquire recording equipment. For years, he has blended recording original music and live performances. He describes his style as "old school electic".
Keith's songwriting is deeply personal, drawing from emotions and experiences. He has embraced the Indie Artist community, receiving nominations and awards, which motivate him to create constantly. He has self-recorded songs on Reverbnation and albums/singles on Pandora, Spotify, and other online venues. In 2021, he won a Bronze ISSA award for US Single of the Year with Hillside Ryders' "I'm From The South".
In 2022, Keith earned five ISSA Award nominations, winning the Bronze US Band of the Year with Hillside Ryders. He also won Musician Of The Year at the Fair Play Country Music Red Carpet Awards Show in Holland. At the Rampage Music Awards, he won Best Vocal Duo and Best Christian Album. In 2023, he was inducted into the Rampage Wall of Fame. 2024 brought the Blues Song of the Year award with Homegrown Music Awards for "Fond Fond Memories," along with finalist nominations in multiple ISSA and Fair Play Country Music categories. He identifies ISSA as an award he is proud to have received.
